Pasadena Playhouse Announces Community@Play Initiative


Pasadena Playhouse is announcing Community@Play, a new free ticket initiative allowing thousands of area students and residents to enjoy the transformative power of live theatrical performances at the Playhouse. This initiative is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, an active supporter of the Pasadena Playhouse for more than 19 years.

The Pasadena Playhouse Names New Executive/Artistic Director


The Pasadena Playhouse State Theatre of California announced today that Danny Feldman will be the theatre's new Executive/Artistic Director. Mr. Feldman will work closely with Artistic Director Sheldon Epps during a transitional period. It was previously announced that Mr. Epps is retiring and will become The Pasadena Playhouse's Artistic Director Emeritus.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced today that Sheldon Epps will leave his post as Artistic Director at the end of the 2016-17 season. Epps will continue his long affiliation with The Playhouse when he assumes the role of Artistic Director Emeritus.

The new Broadway musical Baby It's You! tells the inspiring story of Florence Greenberg, the woman who changed the recording world forever when she discovered The Shirelles and created Scepter Records, becoming the music industry's first female powerhouse. Starring Tony Award winner Beth Leavel as Greenberg (just nominated for a 2011 Tony for the role), conceived by Floyd Mutrux, directed by Floyd Mutruxand Sheldon Epps, and written by Tony nominated book writers Mutrux and Colin Escott, the team behind Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet, Baby It's You! began performances at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street) Saturday, March 26, 2011, and opened on, April 27, 2011. Prior to Broadway, the production held an out-of-town try out at the Pasedena Playhouse in California. In celebration of the show's progress and success, friends of the Pasadena hosted a pre-Broadway opening reception at Angus McIndoe. BroadwayWorld was on hand and brings you photo coverage below!
