(May. 6 10:41 AM) - In response to an effort to remove art from classrooms in California, Jane Lynch, Wayne Hoffman, Matt Sorum, Tony Okungbowa, KISS, Steven Tyler, Johnathan Schaech, Hiimrawn, Davin Dell'Osa, Shay Carl, Epic Lloyd, and Mary Doodles (the dog) got together to create this epic "keep art in schools" battle. (May. 5 12:30 AM) - For the first time in the company's history, Ventura's RUBICON THEATRE is transferring a production to the legendary LOBERO THEATRE in Santa Barbara. On the heels of a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at Rubicon's home in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, the world premiere musical HELLO! MY BABY will play at the Lobero Theatre for three performances only this weekend - tonight, May 5 and tomorrow, May 6. Described as a "Tin-Pantastic New Tuner for all ages," the show is conceived and written by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner and Tony Nominee Cheri Steinkellner, who is also a longtime Santa Barbara resident. (Apr. 29 11:11 AM) - Sweeney Todd, the Tony Award-winning musical, sails into Unity May 18 to June 2, 2012. Based on a version of Sweeney Todd by Christopher Bond, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, it's a tragicomic tale of murder, mayhem, and meat pies.

(Apr. 27 9:33 PM) - Rubicon Theatre Artistic Directors KARYL LYNN BURNS and JAMES O’NEIL announced the company’s 15th Anniversary Season at a preview event for subscribers, donors and media last earlier this month at the theatre’s home in Ventura’s Downtown Cultural District. The event was hosted by Rubicon Board President DR. ROZ WARNER and Board of Advisors’ Chair/Board Vice-President JEFF SMITH, with onstage appearances by several of the directors, writers and performers for the season.

(Apr. 26 6:01 PM) - Charming and unabashedly buoyant, BILLY ELLIOT--which danced away with 10 fairly well-deserved Tony Award wins including Best Musical back in 2009--is a smile-inducing, pleasingly-staged musical based on the 2000 film. The stage musical version's national tour has finally stopped in Los Angeles for a five-week engagement at the Pantages Theatre through May 13.
